Guidelines for Membership
The following guidelines have been
established to allow our members and their children to socialize,
play and grow in a healthy and safe environment, and are in addition
to our Chapter's Bylaws. If you have any questions about these
guidelines, please talk to one of the MOMS Club officers.
The Norco MOMS Club is
a non-partisan, non-profit organization. Our membership is open to
ANY mother regardless of race, religion, age, or financial status.
Moms who work part-time or even full-time CAN join our club.
HOWEVER- it is important to note
that there are several clubs in the Corona/Norco area and there are
national guidelines for boundaries to keep clubs balanced and
distance to activities limited. We encourage you to spread the word
to other Moms to get involved in MOMS club but make them aware that
depending where they live, they may be in another area club. Please
consult with a board member or our area coordinator before
guaranteeing someone may join our club. Any questions on this can
be answered by reading our national by-laws- just ask a board member
for a copy.
The membership fee is $25 a year per
family. Renewal fees will be payable each year in the month
originally joined. The fees are used to pay for room rentals,
postage, copying, national registration fees, parties and other club
expenses. New members may attend TWO functions as a trial period
before deciding to join. A membership/liability form MUST BE
completed and fees paid before a third function may be attended. If
the fees represent a financial hardship, please contact the board.
Monthly Business Meeting/Open
Playgroup and Smaller Playgroups
A business meeting/open playgroup is
scheduled each month. All members and their children are encouraged
to attend. At this meeting we will discuss future service projects,
vote on a variety of issues, and have an occasional visiting speaker
on relevant topics such as safety, health, education, exercise and
more. This is also your opportunity to voice your opinion, bring up
any issue of concern or interest. This is an open playgroup for
children of all ages. It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know
one another.
The smaller playgroups within the
Club are age-appropriate and can meet anywhere the playgroup feels
comfortable, for example at each other’s homes or a park.
General Expectations (not
mandatory, but suggested)
Members shall attend and participate
in as many of the business meetings as possible by contributing
their ideas and suggestions.
Members shall contribute time and
services for the benefit of the group, including participation in
playgroups, seeking Board positions when available, and serving on
committees.
Members shall volunteer for at least
one charitable activity during the fiscal year by means of time,
service, or goods.
All moms need to be responsible for
their own children and themselves at all times.
Event Cancellations
Event coordinators may cancel
outings at their discretion due to weather, low turnout or
unforeseen problem like illness or park being closed. Effort will be
made to let all members know via phone chain or e-mail notices.
Those members who RSVP will
definitely be contacted. Everyone is strongly encouraged to RSVP if
at all possible. Please attempt to RSVP to all events when asked so
that proper materials can be ready and coordinators prepared. If
you decide to attend after an RSVP date has passes- still call- a
lot of times you can still get in on the fun.
Safety Guidelines for Activities
in Members' Homes/Other Locations
Any area in which children play
should be structurally safe and sanitary. Outside play equipment
must be in good working order, and pools should be either fenced or
locked if parents are not present at all times.
All animals should be kept away from
the children during scheduled activity times.
No smoking shall be permitted at any
indoor MOMS Club activity and consideration for non-smokers shall be
expected at outdoor functions.
Any firearms must be stored safely
out of reach in a locked room that children will not be allowed into
during a MOMS Club activity in your home.
Health Guidelines
Healthy members are important to all
of us, so please do not attend any MOMS Club activity if within the
past 24 hours you or your child has had a fever, cough (that is not
allergy, asthma or teething related), green or yellow mucus from the
nose, vomiting, diarrhea, any contagious illness, any infections for
which you started antibiotics within 24 hours or less or any rash
unless diagnosed by a doctor as benign. The officers of the MOMS
Club reserve the right to ask a mother with a sick child to leave a
meeting or an activity group.
Behavior Guidelines
Unfortunately, children do not
always get along with each other. If your child is hitting, pushing,
biting, damaging property and/or putting him or herself or any other
child in harm’s way, please make every effort to control and correct
this behavior immediately. The officers and activity group hostesses
reserve the right to ask a mother and child to leave if the child
has assaulted other children or damaged property more than twice
during the activity; if extreme, it need only happen one time. If a
child is asked to leave an activity, due to said behavior, the
parent must supervise the child at all times at subsequent
activities, until said behavior has ceased.
If your child damages or breaks
something, valuable or not, it is your responsibility to offer to
repair or replace it.
Liability Forms and Sign-in Sheet
Guidelines
All MOMS Club members must have a
signed Liability Release Form on file to participate in activities.
If you are bringing children other than your own, the club also
needs to have a liability release and medical waiver signed by the
child's parents on file. Any guest child will also be expected to
abide by all Chapter Guidelines and will be the sole responsibility
of the adult bringing the child.
Common Courtesies
Nursing of infants and toddlers is
perfectly acceptable at any MOMS Club function and shall not be
discouraged in any way.
Parents and their children (if old
enough) are expected to help pick up the toys before they leave
another member's home, unless the host states otherwise.
Miscellaneous
Only one MOMS Night Out/Couples Nite
Out function (that is, an event in the evening without children)
will be held each month. MOMS Club feels that the family is
important, and time away from them should be minimized..
Advertising in the monthly
newsletter is available to members. For garage sales, personal items
being sold or donated, etc., there is no cost. For home based
businesses, the cost is $25 per year. Please contact the Newsletter
Editor to contribute your advertisement.
Meals may be provided for MOMS Club
members in the case of a new baby, an illness in the family, or
other hardship as the need arises. Please contact the Helping Hands
Coordinator if you are interested in receiving or donating meals. |
